Advocating for Care in the Capital Area of New York State A Provider ProfileCaring for People With Alzheimer's
Alzheimer's Association The Northeastern New York chapter of the Alzheimer's Association provides a range of support and help for those living with someone with Alzheimer's disease. Call 1-800-303-2218 for Answers The Association's Help Line is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Call to get answers to questions about caregiving tips, the Alzheimer's disease process, future financial and legal issues, and referrals to health care providers throughout the Capital Area. (See counties served.) Community Support Groups The Alzheimer's Association sponsors over 30 Alzheimer's disease Support Groups on a monthly basis. Call the Help Line for information on the Support Group nearest you. Family Caregiver Classes Classes are held regularly for caregivers and their families, and describe caregiving techniques for those living with someone with Alzheimer's disease. Each class covers tips on scheduling daily activities, communication, managing crisis behaviors, safety in the home and care for the caregiver. Call the Help Line for the current schedule and to register for an upcoming class. The Northeastern New York Chapter serves the needs of residents in the 11 counties of the Capital Area and the counties of Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton and Otsego. |
